MobileIgniter

Mobile reading is an appetizer, not an entree.

That has XLVI party written all over it!

One of the key, but most basic modules MobileIgniter offers is an RSS feed. It’s so key that it’s the bread and butter of our friends at AppMakr. But, what makes for a good feed in the mobile app context?

Keep the user situation in mind when feeding a blog or other content to your app users.  They’re on the go and those iPhones and Androids have diminutive screens, so an encyclopedic topic treatment will likely be a turn off.  Give them something easily consumable while they’re taking a break, waiting at an appointment, or trying to look busy.

Other tips for your mobile feed:

  • Make it useful. Tips on how to make the best use of their app or another aspect of your business. What are common features of your audience? Is there advice they will all find helpful?
  • Hook them up with a deal. My favorite blogs are topic driven, so they know the kinds of stuff I’m interested in.  If you can point me to a deal, I’m coming back for more.
  • Think outside the blog. Blog writing can be time consuming – as can article reading. What about photos or videos you have or are already on the internets?
  • Always Provide Value.
