When we first started building MobileIgniter, one conversation topic came up again and again. There has to be an API and developers have to love it. To that end, we decided not only to build an API, but to use it to build out the features of our platform.
Every module currently available in the alpha version of the product has been built using the API. There’s nothing we can do in a module that a 3rd party developer can’t. This allows us to move quickly in every dimension of product development. We don’t write native code to make modules work, we provide an API to the module developer.
This is probably an underlying reason that one demo attendee was quick to call us “WordPress for mobile.” We’ve aimed for that I can do this experience in every aspect of the product from day one.
